The phrase "Tikkun Olam," meaning "Repairing the World," is artfully written in Hebrew on this original Sophia & Chloe design. This term denotes our responsibility to improve and repair our earthly surroundings, and to help create a better existence for ourselves and others through acts of kindness, financial support to those in true need, and a commitment to social justice. In keeping with this tradition, every four months Sophia & Chloe will select a different charity to be the recipient of 25% of our website sales of all Tikkun Olam designs.
From July 1, 2010 to October 31, 2010 Kiva will be the recipient of Sophia & Chloe's Tikkun Olam donations. Kiva's mission is to alleviate poverty through microfinance lending. Of the 25% donation, half will go to Kiva's operating expenses, and the other half will go directly to microloans. As the microloans are repaid, they will continuously be turned over into subsequent microloans to additional entrepreneurs. Kiva's microloans are a perfect example of how we can all make a difference! To learn more about Kiva, please visit www.kiva.org. This bracelet features our own Tikkun Olam medallion in 14K gold over sterling silver on a dainty chain of ruby quartz and gold filled chain. Measures approximately 7 inches long, plus has a 1 inch extender. Price: $225.00 |
